Papers and guides from 30+ years of aviation fuel accounting. Plus the Error-Cost Estimator, which takes your own inputs and gives back an illustrative figure for what keying errors could put at risk.
Featured tool · Error-Cost Estimator
In 2026 Skymetrix studied 1.12 million fuel and airport-charge invoices across 31 airlines (2024–2025). 40 percent arrived as paper or unstructured PDF and were keyed by hand. The keying error rate was 3.6 percent, one entry in 28. Skymetrix puts undetected errors at $4.6 billion a year. Move the sliders to size an illustrative exposure for your own operation.
The estimator multiplies your ticket volume, average uplift and an error rate you pick by a fixed exposure assumption. It is an illustration. Not a measurement, not a quote, not a promised saving. FuelCounter™ checks every ticket at four gates before it posts, so a problem gets held with its reason instead of turning up later. Three places to start reading:

Background on duty drawback and the record behind it.
Illustrative annual exposure, estimated from your inputs
How this is calculated: annual gallons (tickets × 12 × gal/ticket) × the error rate you choose × exposure per gallon, where exposure = Jet A price × 7%. The 7% is a fixed illustrative assumption for the share of an affected gallon's value at risk, not the full fuel cost and not a measured figure. The result is an illustrative estimate built only from your inputs and that assumption: not a measurement, a quote or a promised saving. A quantity difference is never automatically a loss or recoverable money.
